Cyber punk is more than an aesthetic—it’s a cultural movement that blends high-tech innovation with a gritty, rebellious underground. Rooted in the sci-fi visions of authors like William Gibson and films like Blade Runner, cyber punk explores themes of corporate overreach, artificial intelligence, urban decay, and the struggle for personal freedom in a hyper-digitized world.
“In 2025, as society grapples with the rise of AI, digital surveillance, and the blending of human identity with technology, cyber punk feels more relevant than ever. This exhibition challenges viewers to examine the intersection of technology and humanity in an era where the lines between reality and virtual experience continue to blur.” - Whitney “Wolf”, Art Director.
The ‘Cyber Punk’ exhibition features an eclectic mix of artists from Asheville and as far away as Poland and beyond, including Glass Crane, Papa Bear, Arkitekt, Daniel Liang, lazizcy, Picklefig, Piotr, Pratham, and Sarper Baran. Third Room Co-founder, Alex Duvall, has designed a custom immersive installation in the venue’s main event space, elevating the experience with sensory-rich elements.
Our gallery showcases a variety of artists working within the digital art medium as well as traditional photographers, painters, and sculptors. Digital artists use apps such as Procreate, Unreal Engine, Photoshop, and other tools to create their art. Some pieces are made by hand and then scanned for a digital representation. With so much of modern life consumed by staring at screens, the opportunity to pull art from the small screen and onto the big screen (65” QLED Displays), provides the opportunity to pause and appreciate digital creativity.
All of the art on display on our digital canvases is created by humans and we do not allow AI generated images to be featured in our gallery. Generative Art is a form of digital art where the “paint brush” is human-designed algorithms that interact with a program to create imagery. This form of art is allowed at Third Room.
A visit to Third Room, includes the ability to engage with up to one-hundred unique works of art displayed on digital canvases which cycles works periodically. Typically each digital canvas is dedicated to a single artist so that one may experience multiple works as they cycle through a rotation of the artist’s work. Some of the works may be still images and some may be animated. And some may have audio.
The main event space is a near 360-degree, 18k projection that utilizes 16 projectors to cover the walls. Sculptures placed around the walls are projection mapped. Projection mapping is the art of sculpting light onto an object and this is one of the primary, unique experiences you can find at Third Room.
Digital art and much of the fine art on display is available for sale. We offer digital art prints through our website that are printed by our partner, DOT Editions, one of the best fine art printers in the southeast. We do not offer NFT’s for sale, at least for now. If one of our featured artists offers an NFT for purchase, we will link to it so you can purchase on your own through their preferred marketplace.
